Creating a Flickering Room and Colored Lights

NOTE: Please refer to the two maps (fire.map, fire2.map) in
the flicker.zip file when refering to this tutorial.

TO COLOR A SECTOR:

In 3D mode, put the cursor on the area you'd like to color, enter <Alt><P>,
and enter a number coinciding with the color of the room you'd like to use:
2-red/orange,
7-red/pink,
8-yellow/green,
9-olive green,
10-blue.

TO ADD A FLICKER WITHOUT COLOR (fire.map)

In 2D mode, invoke <Alt><F5> in the sector you want to have flicker, scroll
over to "FX.." and press <Enter>, and a second dialog page will come up;
input the following under Lighting:

wave 7 : flicker2
Amplitude: -14
Freq: 3
x floor
x ceiling
x walls
x shade always

Experiment with the different settings to vary the effects.

TO ADD A FLICKER THAT CHANGES THE COLOR (fire2.map)

While in the second page of the Dialog Menu (where Lighting is), scroll over
to More Lighting and enter the following:

x color lights
ceiling pal2 = 2
floor pal2 = 2

Enter the corresponding palette number (see TO COLOR A SECTOR above) to
the color of the light you'd like to flicker, and now the flicker will be in that lighting effect.
