Zippy's Blood Meltdown -- An Add-On For Monolith's 'Blood'(tm)
==============================================================

*** The Scariest And Most-Smashable Environments You'll Find In Any Blood User Maps! ***

Bear in mind the main levels are *conversions*. All (?) I did was re-engineer, re-decorate, re-animate, and re-design the stuff that didn't convert happily. But many original ideas and effects have been added, so it's not as if you're just re-playing Duke!

I've tried to stay faithful to the original layouts, and I hope that aficionados will see striking similarities, as well as some interesting differences.

Good luck finding the Duke in AFTERSHOCK! Not essential to ending the level, but it's fun racing him into the ground. :) Should you manage to enable it, the teleporter 'gateway' is located in a place where you will already have been (I guarantee that 100%). J-boots are essential for finding these elements. And if you can figure out how, your j-boots can be replenished at any time... so long as you still have some j-boots left, that is!

'CULTURE CLUB' is a more radical departure from the original Duke level. All six keys combine in a weird and wonderful puzzle -- some are concealed in secret places, and you must collect every one if you're to reach the dramatic and bloody finale. If you like seeing the environment disintegrate around you, you'll appreciate this one.

'DELIVERANCE' took far too long to make, but I hope the effort comes across in its gameplay and atmosphere.
Make no mistake, this is a tough map to complete. It holds a few surprises which we hope you find entertaining. Several switches are shootable and need to be hit from a distance, so get that crosshair up. The most useful secrets are extremely well hidden, but they're not far from where you need them. 'Nuff said about that.

Multi-player mode in Deliverance is restricted to the area of the map up to the first key door. It's such a big, complex critter that full-scale BB wouldn't really work. The restricted area is big enough, mind you, and BB is a real hoot.

The BB/CTF Arenas:

'PAC-MANIC DEPRESSION' is modelled around the layout of the arcade classic, with a watery lower level. We've had a lot of fun with it, we hope you do too.

'GAMBIT' is.. er.. stressful, really. It calls for supreme precision and timing in your jumping. Mind the doors!

'REST IN PIECES II' is a 3-part mini-series comprising 'Canal Madness' (the al fresco stretch of toxic slime), 'R.I.P. H.Q.' (the all-weather indoor track) and 'Rest In Pieces II' -- the whole nine yards, and it is massive.

Zippy's Blood Meltdown was developed and tested using 'Doris', a P133, 48Mb RAM, 2Mb-graphics machine, using Blood v1.11 tools.

All Zippy's maps are MULTIPLAY TESTED. Modem connections are generally the most vulnerable to interruption and stalling, so we've exhaustively tested the maps over a 550-mile modem link, through umpteen nodes on a standard POTS line -- and they're still playable! (Thanks Brian!)

If you've any problems using this add-on, or want to feed back in any way, email me (zippy@which.net) or sock it to me at Monolith's Blood Forum (www.blood.com/forum).

Happy Killing!

Setting Up And Launching Zippy's Blood Meltdown
===============================================

The distribution file is MELTDOWN.ZIP which will cough up these files when unpacked:

Support files:
MELTDOWN.TXT -- this text file
MELTDOWN.BAT -- launcher for all game types
MELTDOWN.INI -- the initialisation File

Maps:
MELTE1M1.MAP -- 'AfterShock: The Hunt For Duke'
MELTE1M2.MAP -- 'Culture Club'
MELTE1M3.MAP -- 'Deliverance'
MELTBB1.MAP -- 'Pac-Manic Depression'
MELTBB2.MAP -- 'Gambit'
RIP2BB1.MAP -- 'Canal Madness'
RIP2BB2.MAP -- 'R.I.P. H.Q.'
RIP2BB3.MAP -- 'Rest In Pieces II'

Place all of these in your main Blood folder, then launch MELTDOWN.BAT. This batch file just contains a DOS command line for starting Blood Setup using Meltdown's own .ini file. You can add up to nine other Blood switches when you launch the batch file (but NOT another '-ini' switch).

Example: MELTDOWN.BAT -NOCD -QUICK -NODUDES -NOPAIN -NOGAIN -NOWAY -JOSE -ETCETERA -IMOUTTAHERE

NOTE:	*IDENTICAL* Meltdown versions must be present at both ends of any multi-play link.

ALSO NOTE: If you have an earlier version of meltdown, you may safely delete the following files from your Blood folder:

MELT1.BAT
MELT2.BAT
MELT.INI
MELTHLP.TXT

Enjoy! :)
